Google Caffeine Search Index Released
Google has officially announced the release of Google Caffeine. This has been a long awaited release and has proved to be even more exciting than I previously thought in my “Bring on the Google Caffeine” article.
Google mentioned that this is a search index update and not an update to the algorithms as such. It is becoming more an more evident that Google is pushing to index fresh content as quickly as possible so if your site is dormant then you may be missing out on that portion of market that Google is working so hard on.
As Google has announced that this will not effect ranking one must not think that they can relax and not update their site. Your overall rank may not go up or down but your ability to play in the fresh content market will be depleted.
Working example of Google pushing fresh content
Besides the ability to index new articles in real time (instantly), Google is also indexing new videos, new tweets and new news faster than ever. Do a simple test for yourself
Tweet anything, I’m going to use the following as an example “Google loves Fresh Content – Caffeine Search Index Released”
Now simply go to Google search and click on “latest” under Any Time. Do a search for any keywords mentioned in your tweet ( I used Fresh Content) . Wait about a minute and refresh.
Amazing, there is your tweet, and what is better, you are instantly at the top of Google.
Future of Google Caffeine
I am going to take a guess that the “Latest” results in Google will show up in a regular Google search at some point in the future as a snippet. I have not seen it in South Africa yet but I’m sure it will roll out sooner or later. This means that fresh content in the form of tweets, video’s or articles may shoot you to the front page of Google instantly (only for a few minutes). Though the time window for being on the front page is small, it is still a market well searched therefore we cannot ignore it.
